Thank you for the opportunity to submit to the discussion paper Green Growth – Issues for New Zealand. It is encouraging that the Government is looking at opportunities for green growth.
As the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, my role is to give advice on environmental matters. I consider climate change to be the biggest environmental challenge of our time, and the transition to a low-carbon economy to be hugely important.
While the Advisory Group’s definition of ‘green growth’ is wider than this, my submission is focused on policies which address greenhouse gas emissions.
