Starting reviews and investigations

Environmental reviews and investigations are generally projects started by the Commissioner in response to a perceived need. These investigations contain recommendations from the Commissioner and are usually tabled in Parliament.

The Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment is most concerned about environmental impacts where they are irreversible, significant in scale, accelerating and cumulative. The Commissioner then designs and prioritises projects based on considerations such as timeliness, capability and whether she can add value.

Investigations may also result from complaints from concerned citizens and groups.

Investigations include:
